Please Be Aware of Email Scams

Dear church family,

Scammers are active again and have been sending emails that pretend to be from me. I have already received a few myself, which means many of you may be receiving them as well. This happens often around the holidays, and they prey on our kindness and desire to help.

Here are a few simple ways to stay safe:

 - Check the email address carefully. My official church email address is seth@stgeorgebanff.com.

 - I will never email you asking for gift cards.

 - I will never send messages saying I am stuck in a meeting and need quiet or urgent help.

 - Apart from our clearly communicated stewardship campaign, I will not contact anyone privately by email to ask for money.

 - If anything feels off, trust your instinct and reach out to me directly. It is always better to ask.
