Dear St. George’s family,

As summer settles in and our routines shift with the season, I want to share a few recent highlights and updates from our life together at St. George’s. There is much to give thanks for, and more still to look forward to.

Pentecost Sunday and a joyful baptism
We closed out the Easter season with a wonderful Pentecost Sunday service, made especially meaningful by the baptism of our daughter, Josephine Linda Enriquez. It was a beautiful moment of grace and joy for our family, and we are so grateful to have shared it with you. Thank you for surrounding us with your love and prayers.

Ji Won Baxter’s new role
Ji Won has now completed her year with us as Creative Outreach Coordinator. Her leadership in worship, communications, and outreach has been a blessing. With the approval of the Mission Funding Board grant, and through your continued generosity, we are planning to welcome Ji Won back as Director of Arts and Families. In this new role, she will continue leading in music and outreach while serving families with young children through new ministry opportunities.

Summer teaching series underway
Our new series, The Rise and Fall of the Kings of Israel, is now underway. Each Sunday we are walking through the lives of Saul, David, and Solomon, three kings whose stories are marked by calling, struggle, failure, and grace. These stories are ancient, but they speak to real questions we carry today about leadership, trust, repentance, and faith.

OESA Cafe update
The OESA Cafe in the Upper Room will be closing at the end of this month. Unfortunately, the electrical system in our upper hall was not sufficient to support the cafe’s full menu. We are grateful for the team’s creative efforts and their presence in our space. While the cafe won’t continue here, we are excited to see their community work carry on in other locations around town. We also hope to keep the upper hall open as a volunteer-led community space in the future, and we’ll share more details as plans develop.

Summer communication rhythm
To better reflect the pace of the summer season, we are making a small change to our weekly communication.

  • Each week in July and August, you will receive a Sunday Blast email with essential worship information.

  • At the end of each month, we’ll send a newsletter with blog posts, ministry updates, and highlights from our shared life.

Whether you are staying in Banff, traveling, resting, or simply moving at a different pace this season, I hope you know how deeply you are valued. The life of our church is not just about events or services, but about people, each one of you. God continues to meet us in every season, and the Spirit is still at work, often in quiet and surprising ways.

Thank you for being part of this community. I’m grateful to walk this journey with you.

With peace and every blessing,
Rev. Seth
Rector, St. George in the Pines
