The First Sunday of Lent22 February at 10am And so Lent begins. 40 days of testing and preparation. Moses spent 40 days and nights on Sinai before receiving God's Law. Elijah journeyed 40 days to Horeb in a time of spiritual exhaustion. And before beginning His ministry, Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness. Lent is a season of self-denial, not to elevate our abstinence, but to grasp what Jesus has done for us, in His crucifixion and resurrection. This Sunday at St. George’s, we are invited to step into the wilderness with Jesus, to open our hearts to who we truly are, what trips us in our walk with God, and ultimately, who we aren't with Jesus. It is a season of repentance, reflecting upon failure, renewal, and a constant turning to the steady grace of God. We are called to listen more deeply, and to allow God to begin shaping in us what the Resurrection reveals. Join us this Sunday at 10am for worship, reflection, and conversation, followed by coffee and something sweet to share.
