We are happy to announce that St. George-in-the-Pines Prayer Team has begun its work! Our prayer team started not as a grand initiative or a planned ministry, but as a gentle response to a deep inner stirring — a call to simply be present for the people around us.

Some of us artists, some dreamers, some just searching for a way to serve: we meet in church, in the park, in the quiet corners of a cafe. There is no agenda but to carry the needs of others in our hearts and lift them up, trusting that God listens.

Over time, our presence became known. People began approaching us — not for answers, but for a listening ear, for a blessing, for a moment of peace. Sometimes they asked for prayer, other times they wanted their prayers to simply be heard.

We don’t try to “fix” people. That’s not our place. Our role is to accompany — to walk alongside those in grief, confusion, hope, or loneliness. Whether someone is Christian or not, we believe that everyone is born with dignity, and should be seen with compassion and respect. Prayer, for us, is not performance. It’s attention. It’s a quiet way of saying, “You are not alone.”

The work is invisible, but it changes things.

For me personally, this work flows from a deep belief that God is present in every molecule of this town, of any town. In cardboard shelters and stone churches, in dishwashing pits and midnight walks in the woods. To pray is to invite Christ, that presence, into my life, and the lives of those around me.

If you feel the pull, you’re welcome. Everyone is invited to leave a prayer request or ask to join a prayer team to share it with others. No one is too broken to pray, no city is too lost to be loved.

Please reach out to prayer@stgeorgebanff.com if you are desiring of a group prayer. Everything is confidential, and nothing is too large to be left unseen. We are here for you.

In Christ,
