What you need to know about weddings during December and Easter season

Yes. We are generally unavailable for weddings during December and Holy Week, including the week before and the week after Easter. These are our highest liturgical seasons and the demands on our clergy, staff, and volunteers during these periods are significant.

Exceptions are rare and require direct approval from the Rector. Please also note that rehearsals are not available for weddings booked during these seasons. If you are hoping to marry during one of these periods, reach out to our Wedding Administrator before making any plans.

Because exceptions during these seasons require extraordinary coordination, the following minimum charitable donations apply:

  • December 1 to 23 and December 26 to 31: $5,000
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (December 24 and 25): $10,000
  • The week before Holy Week, Holy Week (Monday to Thursday), and the week after Easter: $5,000
  • Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday: $10,000

Full payment is required within 14 days of written approval from the Rector. Your date is not held until payment is received. Payment can be made by certified cheque or e-transfer to info@stgeorgebanff.com.

We understand that circumstances can change. However, because these dates are highly restricted, the following terms apply:

  • Cancellation more than 12 months before the wedding: 50% of the donation returned
  • Cancellation 6 to 12 months before: 25% of the donation returned
  • Cancellation less than 6 months before: no portion returned

All cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Wedding Administrator. Any return of funds is at the discretion of the parish and processed within 30 days.

Once you’ve spoken with our Wedding Administrator and confirmed the availability of the church, please complete the booking form below. After we receive your form, one of our ministers will contact you to arrange a meeting.


Following that conversation, a non-refundable deposit of $250 will be required to secure your date. Deposits may be made by e-transfer to info@stgeorgebanff.com or online through our Square payment page, which accepts debit and credit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.
