In Advent we remember that the deepest human problems do not have human solutions. Nothing can save us that is possible, we need help from the outside. Come Lord Jesus.

Though moderns resist authority, we need it to make sense of the evil and suffering in the world. And the only authority we can trust with our lives is Jesus the humble King.

One day Jesus will speak for those who've been oppressed and forgotten, those who oppressed others and thought they got away with it, and will heal the hurt we've endured and visited on others with mercy and grace.

Witholding genuine commitment to Jesus atrophies your faith. But an honest and flourishing spirituality chooses everyday to trust Jesus.

An honest faith recognizes that the future belongs to Jesus. Trusting that Jesus holds tomorrow gives us a peace today that can weather the storms of life.

"To be a Christian is to be called to a life of love, but that calling is a lifelong task that requires our willingness to be surprised by what love turns out to be."

The world demands you choose: progressive or conservative, blue or red. Jesus breaks this false dilemma and shows that an honest spirituality is deeper than this superficial posturing.

A Christian doesn't uncritically absorb the inconsistent ethics of the age. In the face of real tragedy, we turn first to Jesus to learn how to fight in the name of Justice.

Being a 'good person' isn't the point of a genuine Christian faith, it's recognizing that our relationship with God can only be healed by Jesus.

An honest faith doesn't assume we're good enough, it admits we get things wrong and trusts Jesus to heal our brokeness.
