An honest faith recognizes that the future belongs to Jesus. Trusting that Jesus holds tomorrow gives us a peace today that can weather the storms of life.

"To be a Christian is to be called to a life of love, but that calling is a lifelong task that requires our willingness to be surprised by what love turns out to be."

The world demands you choose: progressive or conservative, blue or red. Jesus breaks this false dilemma and shows that an honest spirituality is deeper than this superficial posturing.

A Christian doesn't uncritically absorb the inconsistent ethics of the age. In the face of real tragedy, we turn first to Jesus to learn how to fight in the name of Justice.

Being a 'good person' isn't the point of a genuine Christian faith, it's recognizing that our relationship with God can only be healed by Jesus.

An honest faith doesn't assume we're good enough, it admits we get things wrong and trusts Jesus to heal our brokeness.

Forgiveness is the compassion that helps us see the humanity in those who hurt us, affirms our humanity in the eyes of those we have hurt, and shows us that it's the forgiveness of God that heals our hearts and the world.

A love that doesn't challenge the wrong in our life is mere sentimentality. True love speaks the truth about what's wrong in the world and in our lives as well as the truth that God loves us no matter what.

Which means living a life that refuses to be defined by death. Refusing to live as if this life is all there is. Because that kind of life is corrosive to generosity, justice, and true love.

Why doesn't Jesus just do a miracle and show us he's real? Because he's not interested in your mere belief without transformation. He doesn't want to be another fact you have in your mind, he wants to be in a life-transforming relationship with you.
